Ruth Harris Fleetwood, 95, passed away on December 27, 2021, of Tarboro, NC, formerly of Dunbar WV, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and a retired teacher from the West Virginia Public School system.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wade Fleetwood, and her sons, Thomas Fleetwood, and William Fleetwood.  She is survived by her daughter in laws, Diane Fleetwood of Goldsboro, NC and Debbie Fleetwood of Minneola, FL, and four grandchildren, Matthew Fleetwood, Erica Fleetwood, BJ Fleetwood, and Amanda Clarke.

She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in Tarboro, NC. She was actively involved in her church and community to include her bridge club, library book of the month club, and other activities supporting her love for the arts and the church. She enjoyed visiting family and friends, traveling to West Virginia, and visiting the crystal coast of North Carolina.

There will be no visitation. A private family gathering will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 211 E. St. James St., Tarboro, NC 27886.
