Ruth Morris Joyner was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on January 10, 2023, in Tarboro, NC. She was 94 years old.

Mrs. Joyner was born in Edgecombe County on December 25, 1928. She graduated from West Edgecombe High School in 1947. She worked with Bud Shook Insurance Agency for 25 years. She was a member of the Tarboro Garden Club and numerous other organizations. She was a dedicated and active member in St. James United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

Her home and yard were her passion. She rooted and grew boxwood shrubbery for friends. Her Hydrangeas were the light of her life. She contributed her hydrangeas to many friends and organizations. She utilized her crocheting skills to create many items for friends and charity organizations.

Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Joyner, her parents, and a brother. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Anne (Mike) Turner, and Deborah (Rod) Medlin; her grandchildren, Dennis (Shannon) Hoard and John (Nydia) Hoard; step-grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Medlin and Amy (Brian) Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 13, 2023 at St. James United Methodist church followed by visitation in the church Fellowship Room. The family will hold a graveside service at 1:30 PM before the memorial service.
