IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shelby Jean
Webb
July 1, 1938 – December 8, 2021
Shelby Jean Webb, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 8, 2021. She was born in Edgecombe County on July 1, 1938, to Ernest E. Webb and wife, Addie O. Webb. Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church, Friday, December 10, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour before service.
Graveside will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Macclesfield Cemetery.
Shelby also was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters as well as some of their spouses as follows; brother, Earl Webb (child); brother, Julius Webb and wife, Lucy Mae (deceased); sister, Vonnie W. Taylor and husband, Willard (deceased); brother, Herbert Webb and wife, Lucille (deceased); brother, Wesley Webb and wife, Delanie (deceased); brother, Hilton Webb and wife, Charlotte (still living); sister, Ellen W. Strickland and husband Kenneth (deceased).
Shelby is survived by quite a few nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her very best friend, Patsy Payne. Patsy was a true friend to Shelby as well as the greatest care giver in the last few years and final months, weeks, and days of Shelby's life. Words cannot adequately express how grateful and thankful all of the family are for the great care that Patsy gave Shelby.
Shelby retired from Carolina Telephone & Telegraph Company after many years of dedicated service. She also played on the Telephone Company's women's softball team for a while which she enjoyed very much. Before working at Carolina Telephone, she worked with the FBI in Washington, DC for about a year, but decided she had rather go back to her small hometown of Macclesfield, N.C. The big city life was not for her!
Shelby was a member of Webbs Chapel Baptist Church of many, many years. She loved her church and her church family very much. Over the years she served in many different capacities, such as singing in the choir, teaching kids in Training Union and in Bible Sword Drill competitions. She also served on various church committees over the years.
Shelby was also a very dedicated prayer warrior for her church, her church family, her friends, her country, as well as for lost people. Shelby cared deeply for others, and she helped the less fortunate whenever she could. She was a witness for Christ to many people in her community and elsewhere. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. However, we know that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she is no longer suffering, and she is rejoicing with Jesus and all of her loved ones who have gone on before! What a celebration that must be!
