S. Bellmont Murphrey, 91, passed away at his son's home with Dale and his granddaughter Suzanne by his side.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor David Raynor officiating. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park with Military Honors.

Bellmont proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming and retired after many years of farming in Edgecombe County.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Grace Dail Murphrey; brothers, Durwood, Jack and Colin Murphrey.

Bellmont is survived by his son, Dale Murphrey (Teresa); daughter, Elaine Murphrey; grandchildren, Suzanne Gardner (Thommy), Amber Harrell, Elizabeth Jacobe, and David Myers; great- grandchildren, Abigail Gardner, Olivia Gardner, Gabriel Gardner, Kailyn Bradford, Teagan Bradford and Annalise Jacobe; sister, Nolah Ann Dail.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, from 1:00–2:00 PM and other times at the home of Dale Murphrey, 2016 Lydia Dr., Tarboro, N.C.
