Susie Gardner Wallace, 75, passed away on June 5, 2025 surrounded by her family at Pruitt Healthcare in Raleigh NC.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 8th from 6 to 8 pm at Carlisle Funeral Home with the funeral service being conducted at Carlisle Funeral Home on June 9th at 2 pm followed by the interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro, NC with Pastor Randy Smith of Pinetops Baptist Church officiating.

Susie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Susie had a great love for family, friends babies and animals that included her fur baby Rocky. She loved babies and animals regardless of who they belonged to and would be found doting on them for hours. When not, you would find her outside working in her yard.

Susie was born in Edgecombe County to Joseph S. and Alma Tew Gardner on November 23, 1949.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers - Edward "Bummy" Rook, Freddie Rook, Joseph "Joey" Gardner.

She worked as a cloth inspector at Burlington Mills for several years before starting clerical work in production planning and worked her way up to production planning manager at Polylok/Wellington Sears. She then had a change in career and worked at Vidant Health Care in Greenville in the NICU where she found her calling working with babies.

She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory a son, Michael Todd Prince of Zebulon NC, grandson Michael Ryan Prince of Oak Island, extended family, sisters-in-law - Melisa Wallace Gainey, Sylvia Wallace, Pattie Wallace Queen; nieces - Karen Rook Summerlin, Lisa Rook Daughtry, Tracy Arnold; nephews - Eddie Rook and Mark Rook. Susie will be missed by many.
