Sylvia Rose Cobb Moseley (83) of Wake Forest, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Hock Family Pavilion, Durham, NC surrounded by her daughters.

Visitation on Sunday, February 9, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow after visitation at 1:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.Interment following funeral service at Moseley Family Cemetery.

Sylvia was born on September 12, 1941 in Pitt County, NC. She graduated from Farmville Central High school in 1959 as valedictorian. Following a Thanksgiving wedding to William "Bill" Louis Moseley that same year, she moved to Newport News, VA where she raised a family, showering them with love. She and Bill built their dream house in Seaford, Va in 2003 and resided there for 21 years. She held a variety of administrative assistant positions before serving more than 25 years as an Executive Secretary for Newport News Public Schools. Following retirement in 2005, Sylvia devoted herself to planning adventures with her three grandchildren ("Camp Mimi"), remaining active at church, spending time with friends and continuing to be the primary touchstone of her family.

Sylvia's greatest loves were her family, treasured friends (near and far) and the Gospel of Jesus. She taught 4th grade Sunday School at Temple Baptist Church for over 10 years, always ended a conversation with "God Bless" (even to strangers) and gave annual subscriptions of Guidepost magazine to numerous family members. For over 60 years, she loved being surrounded by the American History found in nearby Yorktown + Williamsburg and used it as inspiration for "Camp Mimi" excursions with her grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by her two daughters: Angela Moseley Dahir (Wake Forest, NC) and Karen Moseley (Charlotte, NC); son-in-law Hazim Dahir; three grandchildren: Hala, Leila and Zayd Dahir; sister: Pat Letchworth and husband Buck Price, brothers: Larry Cobb, Billy Cobb and wife Andrea, Michael Cobb and wife Kathy, and Keith Cobb.

Additional survivors include sister-in-law: Gloria Jean Moseley along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Louis Moseley; her parents, William Everett Cobb and Ethel Lee Moore Cobb; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
