Tazewell Dawson Horton (Bubba), 78, passed away on April 24, 2026, surrounded by his two sisters, Phyllis and Connie and kids and grandkids.

Bubba was born on November 25, 1947, to Frances Byrd Horton in Suffolk, Virginia. He was at his home at Edgecombe Center for the past 22+ years. Tazewell was a devoted father to his two children, Hope and Taz, Jr. He had 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Tazewell was the first one to receive an aneurysm repair at George Washington Memorial Hospital in November 1963. This left him with right-sided hemiparesis, causing him to need to learn how to walk and talk again.

Tazewell attended school in Kinston for male CNA and welding. Fishing and hunting were hobbies that he loved. Most importantly, he loved Jesus and had served Him for many years.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his step-father Royal Harrell, and sister Doris Lee Harrell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026  in the Carlisle Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will immediately follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
