Thurman Douglas Jefferson, 88, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023. He was born in Wilson County on November 11, 1934, to Joseph Thurman Jefferson and Martha Jane Owens.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at West Edgecombe Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew Mayo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Martha Jefferson; brothers, Franklin Jefferson and Danny Kaye Jefferson; and sister, Eleanor Cobb.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family which includes his wife of 58 years, Joyce Jefferson; daughter, Michelle Harris and husband Greg Harris; granddaughters, Chandler Webb (husband Cameron) and Cassidy Davis (husband Jared); grandson, Dawson Harris (Kamryn Varnell); great-granddaughters, Sawyer Webb and James Davis, his pride and joy. His sister, Dianne Wallace (husband Doug) of Macclesfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, at West Edgecombe Baptist Church.
