Velma O'Dell Bridgers, 101, of Macclesfield, North Carolina passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Macclesfield Cemetery.

Velma was born on February 24, 1922, in Edgecombe County to the late William Kindred and Ada Baker Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Conway Bridgers. A lifelong servant of The Lord, Velma discipled others through Webb's Chapel women's ministry and bereavement committee. Velma will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother for which she had several endearing names, Nanny and Nanny Bridgers. Her sunset years (7) were spent in New Bern and in close proximity to her daughters.

She is survived by her daughters, Madgelene Bridgers Armstrong and wife of James Edward Armstrong of Cape Carteret, NC and Connie Lynn Jarman of New Bern, NC; grandchildren Marvin Jeffery Armstrong and wife Elaine of Oxford, NC, Kelly Bridgers Short and husband Clark of Asheville, NC, and Mathew David Jarman and wife Amanda of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren Chloe Bridgers Short, Mason Clark Short, Raelynn Jarman, Madilynn Jarman, and Emmalynn Jarman.
