VIRGIL D. CANNON SR, age 86, died on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the caring and loving community at the Edgecombe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tarboro, NC. Virgil was born in Pitt County, NC in 1934 to the late William Blaney Sr. and Winnie Mclawhorn Cannon and was predeceased by sisters Nancy Ruth Hall, Mildred Reed, Anges Borror, Sybil Przypek, Margaret Moody and brothers WB. Jr, Wilbur, Herman "Dallas", Curtis, and Douglas Cannon.

Survivors include sons Virgil "Darrell" Jr. and wife Joanne, Calvin 'Wayne" and wife Barbara, Dennis and wife Nancy, Linwood and wife Janie, and Paul Cannon. Daughter Winnie "Michelle" and husband Steven, sisters Thelma and husband Leon Parker, Caroyln Lewis, and brothers Jimmy Cannon and wife Karen, Edward Cannon and wife Patsy. He also is survived by 17 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids. Virgil was a farmer all his life in Oak City, Martin County, NC. He also served his country with the Army National Guard in Tarboro, NC. He was always there to help anyone he could. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak City Fire Department, Oak City, NC.
