Willard Vaughn, "Chick", Starling passed away on December 10, 2021 surrounded by his family.  Chick was born on July 14, 1928 in Johnston County, NC to Lester Starling and Eva Carter Starling.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Edna Starling Godwin and her husband Cecil, and his brother, J.W. Starling.

Chick served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Chick found success in his career as a bridge builder for over thirty-five years retiring from his partnership, United Contractors, in Chester, South Carolina.

Chick enjoyed his retirement role of Master Fisherman, spending many hours on the waterways of Eastern North Carolina with his fishing partner and nephew, Curtis Pelt.

Chick is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Faye Keene Starling, sister Virginia Hoppes and husband Richard, and sister, Rudine "Dink" Maidon.  He will be greatly missed by the many nieces and nephews that loved him and enjoyed spending time with him, and special friend, Carol Proctor, who always offered her love and support.

There will be visitation at Carlisle Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on December 14, 2021 with the service honoring Willard Starling beginning at 2:00 PM.  Graveside following at St. Michael Episcopal Church at 3204 Western Boulevard, Tarboro, North Carolina.  And other times at the home, 404 Speight Avenue, Tarboro, NC 27886.
