William Wayne Rogerson, 74, of Bethel, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Billy Wayne was born September 6th, 1950 in Bethel, NC to the late Samuel Wayne Rogerson and Frances Crane Rogerson.  Growing up, he worked on the farm with his father and grandfather.  He graduated from Bethel High School in 1968, before enlisting in the Army.  He was stationed at Fort  Bragg, NC where he served 2 tours in Vietnam from 1968 – 1972.  He served as a SP5 helicopter/aircraft mechanic & crew chief in the 101st Airborne Division, Lancer Airmobile B company, 5th Battalion.  He received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal.  Upon returning from Vietnam, he farmed with his father, worked at Yale, the Cotton Gin and the US Postal Service.  He retired from the US Postal Service in 2003.

Though he loved hunting, woodworking, and reloading, Billy Wayne's favorite role was that as a parent and grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Poppie.

Billy Wayne is survived by his son Travis Rogerson and wife, Casey; daughter Nicole Rogerson; grandchildren, Aubree & Adlee Rogerson and Liam Hartley; sister, Terry Rogerson; and his aunt, Kay Rogerson Allen and many cousins.

The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, December 6th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC.  A graveside service will be held in his honor at the Bethel Cemetery in Bethel, NC at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 7th.
