IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Marion
Webb
May 14, 1931 – October 24, 2025
Willie Marion Webb, 94, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Edgecombe Health and Rehabilitation.
Willie was born in Fountain, NC on May 14, 1931, to the late Floyd Webb and Lillian Ellis Webb. He lived in Edgecombe and Nash counties all his life.
Willie was legendarily known for his love and participation in sports, specifically baseball, softball and basketball. As a young man, he played ball with the "Runny Meade" boys and continued playing sports until well into his forties. His interest parlayed into keeping notebooks of baseball stats. As a senior adult he continued to be active by participating in the Senior games until he was longer able to do so.
An active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church all his life, the importance of God was obvious in how Willie led his life. The love he had for his Lord had a positive impact on his relationships with family members.
Although he never had biological children, Willie raised his first cousin, Melanie Thompson, and proudly referred to her as his daughter, and to her child, Sarah Donnelly, as his granddaughter. He was known as the family statistician and could quote every important event and date in his family history.
Willie is survived by his cousins; Melanie Thompson, whom he raised as his daughter, Beverly Burris, Cathy Kelly, Joseph White (Peggy), Cindy Lewis, and Sarah Donnelly, whom he treated as his granddaughter.
