Alexander Wesley Moore passed away on August 16, 2023.
He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. R. W. (Doc) and Eleanor Moore, his brother Wilton Moore, and his wife Janet Pease Moore.
He is survived by his sister Mary Eleanor Daniel of Tarboro, NC, his daughter Amy Moore and her husband Charles Taylor of Ann Arbor, MI, his grandson Jackson Taylor of Ann Arbor, MI, and his partner Priscilla Adams of Tarboro, NC.
Wesley was born in Tarboro, NC on April 11, 1937. He spent his childhood in Tarboro before attending Darlington School in Rome, GA. Following high school he attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Kappa Alpha.
Upon graduation from UNC Wesley married Martha Beery and moved to Newport News, VA where he worked for Virginia Electric and Power Co. Later he lived in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, working for Legg Mason and the Small Business Administration. He also lived in Waterford, VA and Atlanta, GA. He retired to Charlottesville, VA and later moved back to his hometown of Tarboro.
Wesley was an avid traveler. He traveled throughout the USA, Europe, and to Antarctica. He particularly loved visiting Maine and Italy. He was an active member of the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club where he enjoyed shooting skeet and coached students from The University of Virginia. Wesley loved to read, especially historical nonfiction. He was a member of the Charlottesville Camera Club and won several awards for his photography.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro on September 6, 2023 at 3:00pm. After the service there will be a Gathering at the home of Sara and Skip Valentine: 402 E Park Ave., Tarboro.
