Angela Marie (Griffin) Keel

Strength is the capacity to withstand great force or pressure. That definition embodies the very being of Angie Griffin. Throughout her life, she faced many obstacles yet continued to forge ahead and live her life the best she could. The light of her life was becoming a Mema to her 13 grandchildren. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and left this life of struggle and pain for an eternity of peace and health on the other side. Her 53 years on earth were not nearly long enough she will be missed beyond words. Angela Griffin passed away on January 9th, 2021, peacefully at her home in Tarboro surrounded by her family. She was reunited with her son Howard "Buddy" Whitfield who preceded her in death. She was also proceeded in death by her father Stephen Griffin and loving brother Stephen "Pete" Griffin. What a reunion that must be. Angie is survived by her mother Helen Hamill, brother Marvin "Nut" Griffin, children Summer Pitt, Brandy Boyette, Shannon Whitfield, and Zachary Whitfield along with their spouses. Her grandchildren Harmoney, Cashez and London Pitt, Liam, Justin, and Braxton Boyette, Emyah Pollard, Elyjah Pollard, and Braylah Mabry, Makenna, Noah, and Alaina Whitfield as well as Jayme Whitfield. We can only hope to be as cared for and loved as she was, she had friends that remained by her side until the very end. To know Angie was to love her. Her ex-husband Howard Whitfield along with his current wife Crystal Whitfield made sure that her last days on this side were spent surrounded by love. She also has several nieces, nephews, and other family members who will miss her deeply.

Angie loved to cook on the grill feeding her family brought her joy. She will always be remembered for her love of backyard sitting and beach trips as well as spoiling her grandchildren. Her family has comfort and peace knowing that she is no longer suffering and in pain. Angie is now walking hand and hand with her son in a beautiful place that we on earth can only dream of. Her leaving has left an emptiness within the hearts and souls of those who knew and loved her that will be forever lasting.

Memorial service will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 3:00 P.M.

Arrangements are being carried out by Carlisle Funeral home in Tarboro NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations to be made directly to the funeral home (Carlisle Funeral Home) to help with the cost of services.
