Tarboro, North Carolina – Benjamin Forrest Anderson, Jr died on April 23, 2023, in Tarboro, NC. He was born in Whitakers, NC on November 26, 1949, the son of Forrest Anderson and Annie Mae. He graduated from Tarboro High School in 1968. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972 and married Kitty Keel Anderson, of Rocky Mount, NC, his wife of over 50 years.

Ben worked at Planters Bank in Rocky Mount, NC becoming Director of Credit Risk in 1980. He was instrumental in the merger of Peoples and Planters Bank (renamed Centura Bank) and the acquisition by Royal Bank of Canada. He retired from banking at 55 from RBC Centura in 2005. Upon returning to his beloved town of Tarboro, he joined Calvary Episcopal where he served on the Vestry and as Junior Warden. He enjoyed many hobbies in his retirement including scuba diving, photography, hunting and fishing, traveling with his wife and family, music, boating, and the beach at Pine Knoll Shores.

Ben is survived by his wife Kitty Anderson of Tarboro, NC; son, Forrest Anderson and wife, Elizabeth of Salisbury, NC; daughter Susan Keel Anderson of Charlotte, NC; exchange student and lifelong friend, Antonio Castro, and wife, Miguel of Lisbon, Portugal; close family member Melvin ‘Little Brother’ Underhill of Whitakers, NC; favorite cousin, Margaret Drake McIver of Richmond, VA; grandsons, Benji and Penn Anderson; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Annie Mae Anderson, both of Tarboro, NC, and by his uncles Henry and Emerson Anderson, aunts Annie Mae Johnston and Bette Hassell, and cousin Scott Anderson.

On Wednesday, April 26, the family will receive guests at the home of Clark and Mary Jane Jenkins from 6-8PM. Services will be held at 11AM at Calvary Episcopal Church on Thursday, April 27 with a reception following at the Church.
