Betty Lou Rogister

Mrs. Betty Lou Rogister, 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Rogister, her parents, Arrington Eugene Lucas and Lydia Bradley Lucas, and her siblings Mildred Cherry, Sam Lucas, Howard “Buddy” Lucas and Edna “Sis” Lucas.

Betty was born April 28, 1942 in Edgecombe county. She was a devoted and loving wife and family woman. She was an amazingly generous woman who spent her life caring for others. She enjoyed going to church, riding her bike, and spending as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends. 

Betty is survived by her loving family: daughter, Donna Lewis and husband Robert Lewis, of Tarboro; Son, Herman “Doug” Rogister and significant other Serena Whitley, of Tarboro; grandchildren, Jessica Briley and wife Kimberly, of Durham, NC, Forrest Lewis and fiancé Amber Beach, of Tarboro; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Olive Briley; siblings Myrtle Vick of Norfolk, Va., John “Bill” Lucas of Whitakers, James “Shorty” Lucas of Cedar Rapids, Ia, Mary Ann Webb, Christine Wiggins and Kay Lucas all of Tarboro and Pat Whitley of Rocky Mount.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00-11:00am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 7th at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Episcopal Churchyard in Lawrence. The family will receive friends and relatives other times at the home of Donna and Robert Lewis.
