Deborah Rogister Stroud died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at her home.

She was born on January 31, 1962 in Tarboro, NC, the daughter of James and Dorothy Rogister.

Debbie graduated from Hobgood Academy in 1980 and in 1983 married the love of her life Glenn Stroud. They had two children, Jessica and Brandon, whom they both adored and greatly loved. Debbie, Glenn and Jessica devoted their lives to caring for their beloved son and brother Brandon, whom they lost 5 years ago. Over the past two years, she courageously battled and defeated lung cancer and amazed us all with unbelievable strength and perseverance to get through that battle and all of her treatments. She was a devoted wife, mama, daughter, sister and friend. Debbie was known for her beautiful smile and the words of encouragement she always had for everyone she ever met. She had such a kind and generous spirit that always left everyone she talked to feeling better about themselves.

Debbie was preceded in death by her son Brandon Stroud; her daddy James Rogister; father-in-law and mother-in-law Howard and Melba Stroud.

Surviving in addition to her husband Glenn, are her devoted daughter Jessica Stroud, of Hobgood; her mama Dorothy Rogister, of Tarboro; her sisters Terri Thomas, of Tarboro, Jenny Paramore and husband Chester, of Tarboro; sister-in-law Teresa Sweatt and husband Tom; brothers-in-law Stewart Stroud and Tony Stroud and wife Joy; nephews Joseph Thomas, Seth Paramore, Chandler Stroud and T.C. Braddy; nieces Emily Thomas, Mckenzie Stroud, Christin Stroud, Amber Stroud; and many aunts and uncles.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held at Hobgood Cemetery on Sunday, September 13th at 2:00 PM. Family will receive friends and family immediately following the service and other times at Glenn and Debbie’s home, 1603-A, Longview Ave. Tarboro, NC 27886. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Debbie’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Autism Society of North Carolina, 2045-C, Eastgate Drive, Greenville, NC 27858.
