Dee Alford, 50, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro, N.C.

Dee was born in Edgecombe County on January 12, 1969 to Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Padgett and Carol Warren Padgett.

Dee was born on a beautiful Sunday morning. She brought us so much joy and pride. At the age of 3 she knew the first verse of Amazing Grace and sang it in church. As she grew up she won several teen talent shows. She loved to sing duets with friends Kathy Jones Johnson and Tracy Leggett.

Dee loved scrapbooking flowers and could make something beautiful out of almost nothing. The most dear to her heart were Dee’s sisters children, her niece and nephew, Mackenzie and Matthew.

Over seven years ago she received the bad news that she had cancer. She put up a good fight but the disease finally took over. Dee made a lot of friends who kept up with her during her sickness. She will be dearly missed but is now out of her suffering.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 2:00 pm, First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bobby Forehand and Rev. Sherwood O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00pm at the church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Tarboro.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Padgett. Dee is survived by her loving family, including mother, Carol W. Padgett; sister, Melinda Gaye Johnson; nieces, Mackenzie Johnson, Carmen Watson; and nephew, Matthew Johnson.
