Diane McCorkle Soldow

Diane Louise McCorkle Soldow, 70, of Tarboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones Friday, May 11, 2018 after a third hard fought battle with cancer.

Diane was born to the late Robert and Cathy McCorkle on July 1, 1947 in San Francisco, California.  She graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1965 and then attended College of the Holy Names in Oakland, CA.

Diane married the love of her life, Gary Frederick Soldow, on June 23, 1968 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California.  After marriage, Diane and Gary started a family and ventured around the world with Gary’s naval assignments, finally retiring in Tarboro, NC.

Diane is remembered by her family and friends as a loving and compassionate soul with a never ending amount of creativity regardless of the situation.  She was an accomplished graphic artist, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Little Library Owner among many, many other endeavors.

Diane is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 45 years, Gary.  She is survived by her son, David, his wife Jennifer and their children William, Benjamin, and Rebecca of Springfield, VA; and her daughter Jessica, and her son, Jimmy Thomas of La Plata, MD and Fairfax, VA, as well as numerous other members of her loving family.

On Diane’s behalf, the family wishes to thanks all of the nurses and staff at The Fountains at the Albemarle in Tarboro, NC where she received exceptionally loving and compassionate care throughout her final years. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia.
