Donald Bass Brown, beloved husband, father and PaPa passed away June 4, 2024.

Donald was born December 22, 1947 to Levy and Ethel Brown.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mack Brown.

He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to his loving wife of 57 years, Kathryn Brown; his 3 sons: Reese Brown (Crystal), Wesley Brown (Kelly) and Donnie Brown (Bobbie Jo); brothers Johnny Brown and Bobby Brown; sisters Joyce Dawson, Elizabeth Bradley and Tammy Smith; his grandchildren: Christopher Brown, Abby Brown, Katie Brown, Joshua Brown and Parker Brown; several nieces and nephews.

Donald joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.  He was wounded in 1968 and as a result was honorably discharged.  He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals for his service and sacrifices.

After being discharged from the United State Marine Corps, he attended and graduated from Gardner-Webb University, Tennessee Temple University, Pensacola Christian College. After receiving his Master's Degree in religion, he served as Interim Pastor and Pastor at Penders Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for many years.  He had a passion for photography, capturing many beautiful sunrises and sunsets.  He also enjoyed working with computers and keeping up with the latest technology.

The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude to Dawn, Josh, Zack and the entire staff at The Bridges of Hendricks Creek as well as Dr. Douglas Boyette & Kelly Parker with UNC-Nash Hospice for the care and love shown to Donald.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00pm on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Funeral Service following after in the Chapel at 2:00 PM.
