Donna "Sue" Acree Braddy

Donna “Sue” Acree Braddy, 61, passed away on November 2, 2020 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC. She was born on October 16, 1959, in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to the late Julian Frederick and Lossie Earline (Pittman) Acree. She was also preceded in death by her sister Theresa “Hope” Acree Whitfield Holland and her brother Julian “Cecil” (JC) Acree. 

She is survived by Larry Ernest Braddy, her husband of 42 years and their daughter, Karla Sue Braddy (fiancé Kristyn Ussery and son, Cj). She is also survived by her brothers, James (and Shirley) Acree, Alton (and Vicky) Acree, and sister Patricia “Pat” (and Mark) Forester, her sister in-law, Libby Dorsey Acree Watson and brother in-law Tommy (and Diane) Braddy, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and family and friends.

Sue adored her family and showed it in various ways. She was one of the most selfless people you would ever wish to meet. Whatever you needed, if she had it, it was yours. This quality led her to her career at DSS in Halifax County for almost 30 years. She was an avid gardener, from flowers, to plants, and vegetables, she could restore life to even the most helpless plant. Her green thumb was legendary among those who knew and loved her.

She picked up her love of cooking from helping her mom in the kitchen growing up. She loves cooking amazing meals for family and friends. Her Brunswick stew, banana pudding, and fried cornbread were always the first to go at get-togethers. Whatever she cooked was guaranteed to be delicious. Sue loved nature and the simple things in life; butterflies and dragons were among her most favorite things. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her. 

Visitation service will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC on Saturday November 7, 2020 from 10:30- 11:30 am.
