Dorothy Cronin Obituary

Dorothy Eleanor Cronin, 89, of Tarboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 4th, 2022, due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Dorothy was born on June 9th, 1932, to Karl and Elsie Johnson in Neptune, New Jersey. In 1956, she married William Frederick Cronin, and they went on to have three children: William Robert Jr., Bonnie Lynn, and Kevin-Andrew.

After settling in Fort Myers, Florida, for 25 years, Dorothy spent her time being involved with her church, the McGregor Baptist Church, and taking trips with her many friends. She enjoyed an amazing friendship with a group of childhood friends who formed a ‘club’ in their high school years, called the “Zombies,” who grew together and lived to enjoy wonderful times for over 70 years. She enjoyed talking and laughing, flea-markets, and traveling to distant places. She moved to Tarboro, North Carolina, to be with her son in 2015; however, she still traveled and visited many lovely places here in North Carolina and elsewhere. A life well lived!

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Jean; her husband, William Sr.; and her children William Robert Jr. and Bonnie Lynn. She is survived by her youngest son, Kevin-Andrew, of Tarboro, North Carolina; and her two grandchildren, Joshua and Jason Daly, of Marysville, Washington.

It is Dorothy’s wish for no service or memorial at this time due to the distances of friends and family. Eventually, weather permitting, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, you may donate, if you wish, to a charity of your choice. Dorothy regularly supported the local police and veterans associations.
