Elizabeth Pollard Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Price Pollard died peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at her home in Tarboro with her family by her side. She was born in Tarboro on August 3, 1926, to the late John H. and Martha Brown Price. Liz was preceded in death by her sisters Jacksie Tyson and Martha Price, and her brother John H. Price Jr.

Liz had wonderful memories of growing up in her beloved “Church Street house 2 blocks off of Main Street in Tarboro.”  On July 15, 1949, she married the love of her life, Samuel Pollard at First Baptist Church. In addition to being a homemaker, Liz worked for many years with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company in the Engineering and Drafting Department; and later, after moving to Albemarle in 1966, she worked for many years with adults with disabilities at the local ARC and as co-manager of the ALCOA Company Store in Badin. She and Sam enjoyed renewing relationships with friends and family as they moved back to Tarboro in 1989.

Outside of work, Liz was an avid bridge player and especially enjoyed planning any kind of celebrations for family and friends. Of most importance to her was her involvement in the life of her church as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, WMU Member, and Youth Leader.

Her love for her church community was surpassed only by her love for and dedication to her family, her greatest source of pride and joy. They include her daughter Sandra Pollard, daughter Stephanie Lowder (Rick), granddaughter Mariah Wright (Brantley), granddaughter Gabrielle Hatley (Zach), great-grandchildren Fletcher and Bexley Wright, brother-in-law Buck Price, sister-in-law Jerry Price, sister-in-law Bettyann Poindexter, and many, many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
