Ernest Melton Baker

Ernest Melton Baker, III, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

An Edgecombe native in the town of Tarboro, NC. Ernie served his country well with 24 ½ years of service in the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband, father and friend.

There will be a private viewing on September 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM for family and close friends only.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Melton Baker and Mary Virginia Goff Baker; and three uncles, Kenny, Jerry and Jimmy.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Baker; step-son, Nathaniel P. Cruse; two daughters, Alexandria M. Baker and partner Manning Andrews; Isabella H. M. Baker; son Ernest Melton Baker, IV; mother-in-law Marjorie Wombles; sisters Cynthia Woodard and Toni Baker; brothers Danny Baker and wife Helen, Phillip Baker and wife Wanda; grand-daughters Ares and Lara Andrews; Uncles and Aunts: Milton, Gene, Mike, Peggy, Linda and Debbie; brother-in-law Timmy Womble; nieces and nephews: Valerie and husband Josh Coombs, Jessica Womble, Kenny V., Steven B., Scott V., Phillip B. Jr. and wife Kelly, Mary F. and husband Kevin, Christina, Danny Jr., Lil Jerry, Joseph, Jay and Hannah W., Stephen W., Krystle D.; great-nieces and nephews: Colby, Carly, Brooks, Breaz, Bailey, Caitlyn, Logan, Angel and her kids, Paisley, Bellamy W. and Zoey D.; a special great-nephew Myles W., who loved his Ernie. Also, special friends: Marty and Phillip Dougherty, Kayla H. and kids Jasper, Natalie, Bailey, Bruce and Rene Palmer. His loving pets Lil Bit, Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Hershey and Zoey. He will be greatly missed by all.
