Ernest "Jamie" James Willis

Ernest James “Jamie” Willis, age 57, a longtime resident of Bethel, N.C. left this mortal world Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the company of his loving family. Jamie was born in Halifax County, NC November 26, 1964; and he was the third son of the late Robert Lee Willis and Doris Bateman Willis. He is also preceded in death by a brother John David Pilley III and sister Edna Marie Casper.

Jamie was known for his masonry skills and was once the owner and operator of Willis Masonry. It has been said by many “he could sure sling some mud” and his skilled craftsmanship will live on in the many homes and buildings in Eastern North Carolina that he worked on. Jamie was a man full of life and lived it to the fullest. He loved music, especially playing the guitar and singing with his brother, Gary. Above all, Jamie loved his family and friends dearly, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jamie is survived by his son Eric James Willis and wife Arielle; grandkids, Alliyah Willis and Jo’el Daniels; brother, Gary Lee Willis (Lora) and Kenny Wayne Willis; sister, Robin Lynn Baker-Arvin; nephews, Travis Lee Baker (Stephanie), Robert Wayne Willis, Thomas Charles Arvin II, and Gilbert Harris; niece, Ida Louise Bailey (Jeff). He is also survived by numerous great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to cherish his memory.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, November 19, at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, N.C.
