Ethel Burton Coker, 84, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 6 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Chaplin Keith Griffin officiating. Entombment will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
She was born in Bland County, VA on October 14, 1935 to the late Samuel Burton and Ola Mae Burton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Coker; and grandson Derick Coker.
Ethel retired from Heritage Hospital as a nurse (RN) after 39 years of loyal service. She was a member of William & Mary Hart Presbyterian Church in Leggett, NC.
She is survived by a loving family which includes her children, Denis Coker and wife Cindy, of Greenville, Terri Bostick, of Greenville, David Coker and wife Marlou, of Tarboro, Michelle Godwin and husband Greg, of Tarboro; grandchildren, Lindsey Luckey and husband Tim, of Rocky Mount, Bobbie Jo Coker, Courtney Pitt and fiancé Brandon Thomas, of Glen Allen, VA, Brittany Coker, of Greenville,Tyler Coker and Haley Coker, of Tarboro; Joey Hodges, of Greenville, Justin Morris, of New York City, NY, Jonathan Godwin, of Stokes, Ashley Godwin, of Tarboro, Matthew Godwin, of Rocky Mount; great-grandchildren, Emma Coker, of Greenville Ashlynn Luckey, Brooklyn Luckey, Colson Luckey, all of Rocky Mount, Bryson Ezzell, Braelyn Pitt, of Glen Allen, VA; Jasmine Smith, of Washington, NC, Savannah Thomas, Hunter Thomas, both of Greensboro, NC, Nicole Jeffreys, Hayden Boyette, Bailee Boyette, Kaitlin Jeffreys, all of Tarboro, Carli Godwin, Charlie Godwin, of Stokes, Garrett Godwin, of Rocky Mount; Sisters, Mary Lou Goins and husband Richard, Helen Shewey and husband Thomas, of Bland, Virginia and a host of special nieces and nephews; and her special fur baby kitty, Oleo!

The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 7:00-9:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
