George Robert Crawford

Bethel- Mr. George (Bud) Robert Crawford, age 84, died on Friday, March 27, 2020. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  

George was born December 12, 1935 in Pitt County, NC.  He was the son of the late Melva and George Robert Crawford, Sr.  George, Jr. was a hard-working, dedicated farmer for over seventy years.   George was a kind, sincere, genuine, and kind-hearted soul who loved farming and his family.  He was a man of his word and the rock of his family.  On September 19, 1953 George married Eunice Lee Shackelford.  Together they had five children.  George Crawford is survived by his wife Eunice Crawford of Bethel and five children:  Deborah Cleaton and husband Ken of Winterville; Alton Crawford and wife Emma Lou of Bethel; Ronald Crawford and wife Susan of Bethel; Becky Little and husband Robin of Greenville; and Dwain Crawford and wife April of Bethel.   George is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; they all brought a special joy to him.  George was a member of Johnson Memorial Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where he served as a deacon.  In more recent years, when health allowed, he attended Nahala Presbyterian Church.He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings:  Raymond Crawford, Alice Harper, Nina Ruth Beamon, and Donald Crawford.  His surviving siblings are H.C. Crawford and wife Della of Maury and Blanche Nethercutt and husband Lawrence of Snow Hill. 

A private family graveside service will be held at the Bethel Cemetery on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 4 pm. with Reverend Steve Herring officiating.  A memorial service to celebrate his life will be planned for a later date.
