On Monday, June 1, 2020 George Washington Sexton passed away at the age of 89. He was born February 22, 1931 to Frank Baker Sexton and Effie Coker Sexton and raised in the Town of Tarboro, N.C.
After graduation from Tarboro High School in 1949 he joined he U. S. Marines and served until 1952. He then enrolled in UNC of Chapel Hill where he met and married the love of his life Nell Scott Sexton.
Most of his working career was with Owens-Illinois Glass Company as one of their top salesman.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Nell, his parents Baker and Effie Sexton, his seven sisters, Inez(Crafus)Armstrong, Beulah(Forrest)Armstrong, Lucille(Roy)Hayes, Ruth(Clifford)Sampier, Virginia(George)Johnson, Nelda(Julius)Lange, Rebecca(Berry)House and his brother Franklin(Ruth)Sexton. He is survived by his brother William Sexton and a large number of nieces and nephews who will always remember him for the fun times he lovingly spent with them. Dunwoody Georgia was where he and Nell made their home and leaves behind many dear friends by whom he will be greatly missed. During the past few years he was a resident at Brookdale Chambrel Roswell where he made many caring friends. Two very special friends who have visited and cared for him there are Dale Young and Ethel Bohannon to whom the family would like to express their gratitude. A graveside service will be held at Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarboro, N.C. on Tuesday June 9, 2020 at 11:00 A. M. for family and close friends.
