Ray Joyner (aka Blu) (aka Papa) Ray Joyner, 71, of Airport Rd, Williamston, NC died Sunday, January 10th at a rehabilitation center.
Born February 19th,1949, Edgecombe County. Parents are the late Lena Viola and Mathew Vady Joyner, also late Pearl Joyner Griffin. In 1988 Ray married Cindy Joyner (Cynthia Marie) of Rocky Mount whom died December 21st,1988.
Ray graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel, NC in 1967.
Ray was a heavy equipment operator for E.R. Lewis Construction of Greenville, NC for 30 yrs. Also part time bouncer.
He is proceeded in death along with wife and parents are nieces Rebecca Lynn Joyner and Tonya Dail Watt.
Survivors include sons Thomas Edward Joyner of Simpson (Tammy), Derrick Grant Joyner of Williamston (Morgan), Daryl Elijah Jarman ( Leigh Ann) of Greenville. Daughter Susan Raye Joyner of Simpson. Brothers James E. Joyner Joyner of Pinetops ( Esther), Sister Annie Bullock of Williamston (Dean), 5 grandchildren: Austin Bryant Johnston Joyner, Paige Deana Wilson, Terry Lawrence Hamilton III, (Haley), Elizabeth Storm Hamilton (Nick), Marlee Rayne Rawls, Sadie Kay, Veda Leigh, Trinity Brook and Aubrey Grace Jarman. 3 great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Peyton Hamilton, KJ Sharp.
Nieces Katherine, Jessica and Sara Burch, nephews Will Bullock and Dylan Watt.
Also his Maltipo Fur Babies, Doc Holiday, Jasmine, and Shug.
Best Friend Johnny Garris. Heather Grant, A big part of Rays life as a Friend, Caregiver and his personal home Nurse for the past year, whom the family truly appreciates all she did.
A Celebration of Life services to be held @ 2pm Thursday January 14th at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC . with the Pastor Steve Webb, Cornerstone Community Church, Rocky Mount NC and Family Speakers Terry Lawrence Hamilton III and Derrick Joyner with the interment following in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park, Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday night January 13, 2021 at Carlisle Funeral Home from the hours of 7 PM until 9 PM, and other times at his home on Airport Road in Williamston, NC.
