Hilda Gray Norville

Hilda Pollard Norville, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in Danville, Virginia where she had been living with her daughter for the past 3 ½ years.    

Hilda was born in Tarboro, NC on August 10, 1934 to Lula Price Pollard and Vernon Theodore Pollard.  

Hilda was predeceased by both parents as well as her sister, Lula Irene Knox, brother-in-law, Elmer Knox and brother, Vernon “Bud” Pollard. 

Hilda was married to Linwood “Tommy” Norville for forty-two years who predeceased her in 1995. 

Our mother was a true example of what it was be honest and treat people right.  She believed in helping others. She instilled in her children the value of hard work. She worked most of her life as a book keeper and worked for over twenty years for Carlisle Funeral Home where she did all she could to keep those guys straight. Mom was known for her sense of humor and she remained sharp in her humor late into her years. She brought a certain kind of wisdom with her and shared it with those who took time to listen. She loved her family and she will truly be missed but never forgotten. 

She is survived by her loving family which includes her children, son, Ricky Norville, wife, Jennifer, son, Michael Norville, wife, Gay and daughter, Teresa “Tess” Moss, fiancée, Hampton Moss. Grandchildren, Kyle Norville, wife, Jesseca, Scott Norville, wife, Becca, Kaylyn Norville and Michaela Norville. She is also survived by a sister in-law, JoAnn Pollard.

The family will be receiving friends at Carlisle Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 17, 2021 with a private interment following at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
