Jacqueline Thompson-Foscolos Obituary

Jacqueline Anne Thompson-Foscolos, age 77, passed away peacefully Friday, January 6, 2023, after a long illness.

She was the daughter of Dorothy Helen Bischoff and Bernard Lee Thompson from New Jersey. She was born on December 4, 1945, in Morristown NJ, grew up in Rockaway NJ, graduated from Morris Hills High School in 1964 and earned a BA degree in American Studies from Barnard College in 1969. In high school she was active in school plays, the band and orchestra, National Honor Society and became an accomplished flutist playing in the New Jersey All Eastern Orchestra and Band.

Jacque’s early career as a public relations specialist for Peat, Marwick, Mitchel and Co. launched her lifetime love of writing, editing, publishing, consulting and business. As a successful free-lance business writer her feature articles appeared regularly in major newspapers and magazines such as MS., New York magazine, Parade, Financial World and Working Woman. While writing her two published books, The Very Rich and Future Rich her research and early cutting-edge analysis of trends in the telecommunication, computer hardware and software, biotechnology, office automation and robotics brought her professional focus to Wall Street where she worked as a financial editor and supervisory analyst for DLJ, Bank of America, and later Wedbush Securities.

In 1984, while on vacation in Greece, Jacque met the love of her life, Panos Foscolos from Athens. After an international courtship they were married on Feb. 20, 1987, in Staten Island NY where the couple resided. They later moved to Hastings-on-the-Hudson and finally Mt. Kisco, NY.

In 2012, on their 25th wedding anniversary, Jacque fell down a flight of steps, suffering a severe traumatic brain injury, which would forever change the course of the couple’s lives. Drawn by the invitation of friends, the mild weather and affordability, Panos moved Jacque to Tarboro where he devoted his time to tenderly caring for Jacque in their new home until her death.

Jacque loved traveling and having adventures, tending to her beautiful garden and entertaining friends and family year-round. She loved all types of animals and birds; especially many family cats over the years. She loved a good political conversation as well as a goofy comedy. She enjoyed dancing, music, reading, fine dining.

Jacque is survived by her devoted husband, Panos Foscolos, Tarboro, NC, sisters, Carol Susan Hussa, Wilkes-Barre PA, Cynthia Janet Thompson, Montrose, PA, and brother; Philip Ted Hussa, Denville, NJ, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A service and reception for family and friends will be held Monday, January 30 at 11 am at the Calvary Episcopalian Church, 411 East Church Street, Tarboro, NC.
