James Hardy Council, Jr.

James Hardy Council Jr., 69, passed away on Saturday, Oct, 30, 2021.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at the Oak City Cemetery on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

James was born in Edgecombe County on May 13, 1952 to the late James Hardy Council, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Council.

He is survived by his loving family which includes his sister, Brenda Sue Hannah (Royce); sister, Phyllis Elaine Hopkins (Herbert); brother, Thomas Lucius Council (Wanda); and several very special nieces and nephews.

James graduated from the Oak City High School, class of 1970. Following graduation, James spent several years in the agribusiness with Long Manufacturing in Tarboro. James had an extreme passion & knowledge of classic cars. He also had a huge admiration with most all genres of music. James never married, but was always available to family & friends. He loved his family and took great pride in talking about them to anyone who would look and listen. James always took a genuine interest in people & was well respected by many in the community.  James enjoyed the Oak City Senior Citizen Center and the many wonderful people he came to know so well.
