James Kenneth “Kennie” Manning, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2020 at home. He was born on March 24, 1957. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Edgecombe Memorial Park with the Rev. Dylan Anderson officiating.

Kennie graduated from Tarboro High School in 1975. He devoted many years of dedicated service to Carolina Telephone Company as an Equipment Installer. Kennie’s favorite things were the UNC Tar Heels, his beloved pets, and making his numerous friends laugh through his daily Facebook posts.

Kennie was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie Briley Manning and James Kenneth Manning, Sr. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Butch Cannon, nieces Tracy Cannon Johnson and husband, Charles, and Susan Cannon Hoke and husband, Chris, great nieces and nephews, Chase, Anna, and Lizzie Johnson, and Brody Hoke, and dear friends Tommy Mitchell and David Weeks.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Tracy and Charles Johnson at 712 Salem Lane in Tarboro.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Kennie’s memory to SPCA Alliance, an organization dedicated to saving homeless pets from shelters in Tarboro and Edgecombe County, to the care of Peggy Harrell at 604 Palmer Street, Tarboro, NC 27886.
