James Roger “J.R.” Peaden left this world and went to be in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 2:58 PM with his daughter Sara holding his hand and wife Millie by his side.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Wood and Minister Randy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
J.R. was born in Edgecombe County on November 28, 1959 to Lonnie Peaden and Orthy Wooten Peaden. He loved spending time with his grandkids. From watching his daughter Sara in the stands as she played sports growing up, he continued that tradition with his grandson Wyatt. Whether it was baseball, soccer or basketball, he would be there cheering him on. Four months ago, God gave him the joy of meeting and holding his granddaughter Caroline James, who was named after him. He was so proud of his family and was always there for them no matter what.
J.R. worked at Piedmont Natural Gas for over 30 years and made many friends. He could often be found at the race, playing pool, or going out to eat, especially to his favorite restaurant Sam Jones BBQ. He was always ready to go and would insist on paying for everyone’s meal if you joined him. J.R. would always ask his brother Bruce to go for a short ride. After talking Bruce into going, a 15 minute ride would turn into an hour. But those are the memories and laughs we will never forget. He had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need if he could. J.R. will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of 34 years, Millie R. Peaden; daughter, Sara Peaden Dew and husband Travis; grandson, Wyatt Laughlin; granddaughter, Caroline Dew; sister, Bobbie Hudson; brother, Bruce Peaden and wife Barbara.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
