Janice Diane (Williams) Browning

Janice Diane Williams Browning, age 67, of Tarboro, North Carolina, passed away on May 1, 2023. Janice was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on May 5, 1955, to the late Chalmers Williams and Helen (Carter) Williams.

Janice is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mike Browning; children, Michael Browning Jr. and wife Leigh Anne, Kimberly Whitehurst and husband Ross of Speed, North Carolina; three grandchildren that were all her favorite, Hailee Whitehurst of Raleigh, North Carolina, Brice Browning of San Diego, California and Landon Browning of Speed, North Carolina; two brothers, Kent Williams and wife Julia, Danny Williams and wife Linda of Tarboro, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  

Janice worked at Mayo’s Knitting Mill and Cummins Engine Plant until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family. Sunday dinners were a ritual where each family member had their favorite food. She rotated the menu to make everyone happy. Every summer, we vacationed at the beach as a family. Besides the love of her life of 50 years, the grandchildren were her heart. Many hours have been spent traveling to watch wrestling, baseball, softball, and livestock shows. They always knew that Nannie would be there to support them.  

The family will receive friends and family Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Carlisle Funeral Home. Graveside service immediately following at Edgecombe Memorial Park, Tarboro, North Carolina. At other times, the family will receive visitors at 1717 Batt’s Chapel Rd, Tarboro, North Carolina.
