Lillian Robbins Obituary

Lillian Wester Robbins, age 98, passed away on March 1, 2024, at her home in Indian Trail, surrounding by her loving family.

She was born on February 9, 1926, in Nash County, NC to the late James Albert Wester and Ethel Griffin Wester. She grew up in Nash County and married her high school sweetheart, George "G.W." Robbins, in 1945 after he served in the army in WWII. Lillian and G.W. lived in the Rocky Mount area for a short while, then moved to Tarboro where they made their home and raised their family. She was a homemaker and later worked as a school secretary in the Edgecombe County Public School system until her retirement in 1988. In their early retirement years Lillian and G.W. enjoyed traveling with Christian Tours. Lillian liked to stay busy with grandchildren, gardening, cooking, crocheting, cross-stitching, reading and being involved in many church activities. In her later years, she crocheted and donated over 300 lap blankets to the local hospital. She was also an avid writer. Her stories, devotions, poems and plays were published in inspirational books and magazines. She wrote weekly devotions for The Tarboro Telegram and authored two inspirational books, Light on the Shore and Beside Still Waters.

In 2000, Lillian and G.W. moved to Indian Trail, NC to enjoy the rest of their days near family.

Lillian was a charter member of the Tarboro Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was involved in many other areas of service. After moving to Indian Trail, she worshipped with Idlewild Christian Church and then Providence Road Church of Christ.

Lillian was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will forever be remembered. Her most important role was as a servant of God, pointing others to Jesus, making a difference for eternity. Lillian was a dear lady, an example, a mentor, with unwavering faith, love, kindness and grace. She loved her Lord.

Lillian is now in the most glorious place and her body is strong and whole.

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  Isaiah 40:31

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 65 years G.W. Robbins, an infant son, sisters Ollie Mae Hood, Erlene Skinner, Ann Costin, and three infant great-grandchildren Jacob, Aria, and Benson.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Wayne Robbins of Indian Trail, her daughter Jeanette Faye Robbins Perkins and son-in-law Richard Allen Perkins of Matthews, three grandchildren Daniel Allen Perkins and his wife Erin of Cary, Lucas "Luke" Ryan Perkins and his wife Catherine of Cary, and Lauren Rebecca Perkins Schultz and her husband Colin of Willow Spring. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren Lillian Faye Perkins, Noah Allen Perkins, Hosea Richard Schultz, Cora Noelle Perkins, and many nieces and nephews.
