Margaret Jenkins (Hamric) Wiggs

Ms. Peggy” as everyone knew her, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 10.  She is survived by her daughters, Mary Wiggs Speight and husband Lee of Macclesfield,  Martha Wiggs Green and husband Steve of Dunn.  Her grandchildren, Allison Taylor and husband, Jason of Macclesfield, Brian Etheridge of Macclesfield, Ryan Blanchard of Dunn and her basketball boys, Mark Schmitt of Durham and Kevin Schmitt of Bluefield, Virginia, along with their dad and stepmother that were family to her, Bruce & Lillian Blanchard Schmitt, of Dunn.   Great grandchildren, Ella Taylor and Chase Taylor of Macclesfield, Codie Etheridge of Pinetops and Shianna Webb of Boone and her many “pretend” grandchildren (as she called them) that she loved. 

Peggy was born in Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount on November 22, 1934.   Peggy loved swimming and spent many days at Maccripine County Club playing with all the children and teaching them swim. She loved going to watch Mark and Kevin play sports, never missed a game and enjoyed their high school years at Trinity the most.   She truly loved her Trinity Christian family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Bill Wiggs, her parents, Porter & Margaret Hamric.

Arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 12 at 11:00 am at the Macclesfield City Cemetery.  In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to Macclesfield Presbyterian Church, P.O.Box 247, Macclesfield, NC 27852 in Peggys’ memory.
