Mary Alice (Rackley) Lewis

Mary Alice Rackley Lewis, 79, of Tarboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, November 5, 2020. She was born February 9, 1941, to the late Joseph and Hazel Rackley. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Benny Rackley, Kenneth Rackley, and Joseph "P-Nut" Rackley; sisters Patsy Chadwick, and Joyce Gray; half-brother Milton Rackley; and half-sister Mary Lou Adkins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 56 years, Gene Lewis; daughter Mitzi Sentiff of Tarboro; sons Delton "Dell" Lewis of Aldan, Pennsylvania, and David Lewis (Angie) of Tarboro; grandson Gabriel Sentiff (Rachelka) of Rocky Mount; granddaughter Reagan Lewis of Tarboro; great-granddaughter Lily Sentiff of Rocky Mount; sister Elva Rackley of Rocky Mount; half-brother Bob Rackley of Stoneville, NC; and half-sister Dorothy Odom of Florida. She is also survived by a host of brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In 2017, she retired after 32 years from MBM Corporation in Rocky Mount, where she enjoyed many special friendships among her co-workers.

She loved her family and her church family at Penders Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to read. She read the daily newspapers from cover to cover, and John Grisham and Jodi Picoult were favorite authors. She enjoyed word puzzles, playing solitaire on the computer, and watching Sean Hannity every night. She loved good food, particularly breakfast from Abrams or Country Sunrise Grill, and going out to eat with her husband and family was a favorite pastime. She especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Red Lobster.

Visitation service will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC, on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 2:00-3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Johnny Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
