Mrs. Mavis Bass Watson, age 86 of Tarboro passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mavis is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles Ray Watson; her daughter, LuAnn Bridgers; her mother and father, Joe and Lena Windham Bass; her siblings, Joe Bass, Jr, Dolly Jones, Marie Mozingo, and Daisy Morris.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Watson Goff and husband Donnie of Bethel; son-in-law, Kenneth Bridgers, of Macclesfield; sisters, Rosa Proctor (Wayne) of Castalia, Betty Ivey of Winterville; Brother, Roderick Bass (Janice) of Williamston. Grandchildren, Carol Sutton and husband Donald, Mathew Joyner and wife April, Stephen Joyner and wife Aftin, Sandy Goff and wife Meaghan, Brandy Goff and wife Kelly. Great grandchildren, Austin Joyner, Mackenzie Joyner, Kaylee Goff and Bradyn Goff.
The family will be receiving friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Celebration of Mavis’ life will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11 a.m in the First Free Will Baptist Church, Tarboro. The interment will follow in the Edgecombe Memorial Park.
The family will be accepting friends and family at her home located at 5841 Hwy 258 South, Tarboro from the hours of 11 a m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
