Melvin Rudolph Deal, 85, passed away on March 13, 2023. Born on December 23, 1937, in Pitt County to the late David Ollen Deal and Minnie Lee Deal. Melvin was a devoted husband, father, “Pa”, brother, and friend to many. He worked for Black & Decker for many years before retiring in 1995, when he assumed his favorite full time role taking care of his beloved dogs. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Walker Deal and granddaughter, Kelly Michelle Deal.
He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Roberts (Chris) of Macclesfield, and Kathy Webb (Timmy) of Pinetops; one son, Creig Deal (Donna) of Elm City; two sisters, Marcelene Denny of Tarboro, and Ann Webb of Oak Island; one brother, Wayne Deal (Sherron) of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren, Jacob Griffin (Katie) of San Diego, California, Jordan Sturgill (Pierce) of Greenville, Taylor Case (Corey) of Jacksonville, and Megan Deal of Elm City; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Griffin of San Diego, California, and Griffin Sturgill of Greenville; and a number of special friends and hunting buddies.
Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Kathy and Timmy Webb. The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the staff at The Bridges of Hendricks Creek for their special care and love for their “Pops,” as well as Nash Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Boyette, and his staff.
