Nancy also taught kindergarten in the Rocky Mount school system and was later employed by Nash Community College to work for twenty years as coordinator of the GED program.

Nancy was predeceased (2014) by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Charles I Penick, who was her one love and favorite blessing. Her death represents a glorious reunion that closes their circle.
