Nannie Lee Stallings, aged 77, passed away at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital on Jan. 9, 2022 after a short battle with Covid and respiratory illness. Mrs. Stallings was born in Edgecombe County on Sept. 25, 1944 to Nannie Summerlin. She attended school at Crisp Elementary and graduated from Tarboro High.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery in Crisp, NC at 2:00 P.M.
Mrs. Stallings worked at Roses when it was located on Main St. in Tarboro and a nurse’s aide at Edgecombe General Hospital in Tarboro for several years. She worked at K-mart in Tarboro for 19 years and Walmart in Tarboro for 19 yrs. She loved working with the public and enjoyed the new people that she met along the way. Mrs. Stallings loved the mountains, especially when the leaves changed color during the Fall. She also enjoyed fishing at Nags Head and the James River. She always enjoyed helping people whether it was her family, co-workers or anyone she saw that was in need.
Mrs. Stallings was preceded in death by her Mother, Nannie Summerlin; her Son, James Michael Dunn; and her 1st husband, James Dunn.
Mrs. Stallings is survived by her Husband, Raymond Stallings; Daughter, Cynthia Sherrick; Grandson, J.J. Sills (Allison); Grandson, Daniel Sherrick (Ashley); and brother, Samuel "Bo" Summerlin. Along with her loving cousins and extended family from the Summerlin and Holloman families.
Mrs. Stallings will always be remembered for her caring heart and the love she had for all of her family. She loved being a Wife, Mother and especially a Grandmother. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital for the care and compassion they have provided for our loved one.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Carlisle Funeral Home at 6:00 P.M.
