Peggy Pulley Pearce

Peggy Pulley Pearce, 72 years of age, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Peggy was born in Tarboro, NC on February 5, 1949 to Merkle Fred and Montcello Grady Pulley. She graduated from Tarboro High School and attended Hardbarger Business School in Raleigh, NC. After graduating she went to work for Turlington, Flowers and Stanley. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Tony Pearce, on August 9, 1969 they moved to Hampton, VA for a couple of years but soon returned to her beloved Tarboro to settle down and make a family.

Peggy was one that never met a stranger. She worked for BB&T for 43 years before her retirement in 2014. It seemed as though she knew everyone in the community by working at the bank for so many years; this often proved challenging for her two boys if they ever tried to get away with anything. She was always ready and willing to help anyone that needed it. Her passion was always her family and any animal that needed to be rescued. Anyone that knew her knew that she loved to talk for hours with anyone that would talk with her and shopping with her friends. She was a member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Montcello Grady Pulley; her father, Merkle Fred Pulley; her brother, Merkle Fred Pulley Jr. “Butch”; and her second brother, Charlie Ray Pulley “Tootie”.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tony Dean Pearce Sr.; son Tony Dean Pearce Jr. (Jenny); son Brian Merkle Pearce (Amy); grandsons, Tony Dean Pearce III “Trey”, William Matthew Pearce and Conner Ray Pearce; and granddaughters, Summer Coley Pearce and Brileigh Sylvanna Pearce.

Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2022 at Carlisle Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family will be accepting visitors before 6:00 pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1902 Lewis St. Tarboro, NC. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Tarboro, NC at 11:00 am.
