Tarboro
Everything on earth has its own time and its own season. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Peter Jerome Bobbitt “Pete” completed his journey in this world on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He is resting now awaiting Jesus’ return.
He was born on May 3, 1954, the 5th of six children of Annie Lee and Albert Bobbitt. He grew up in Tarboro, graduating from Tarboro High School and spending the majority of his life in Tarboro. He loved his family and was protective of them.
Much of his life centered around trees. He was a very talented carpenter and craftsman learning from the best in Edgecombe County, his “Pop”. Pete enjoyed taking long walks in the forest and enjoyed the old houses and stores in the area. He restored many of them to their original state. Building unique pieces of furniture from old tobacco barn lumber was his pleasure and pride. He also had a wealth of knowledge about fishing, wood-working, nature, reading, putting puzzles together and common everyday things. A favorite pass time was watching the history channel.
Hunter Hill was his home and he enjoyed meeting his friends at the Gazebo and socializing with them. His self-made brother was Randy Holloman, who provided a lot of support to Pete in his last days. Terry Kirkland also goes way back with Pete and called Pete’s father “Pop” just like Pete did.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Annie Lee Bobbitt; two brothers, Fred and Richard; and brother-in-law, Roy Parker.
He is survived by his siblings, James Bobbitt, Jr. of Plymouth, Henry Bobbitt of Wilson, and Edith Parker; brother-in-law, Ben Whitehurst; nieces and nephews; Ricky Parker, LeAnne P. Butler, Fredra B.B. Knight, Melissa B. Boggs, Ginger B. Barfield, Andy Bobbitt and James Bobbitt, III. He also leaves behind 1 niece; 10 great-nephews and 1 great-great-nephew; and his furry baby girl Bella who will really miss him.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of ECU Health Edgecombe County especially Palliative Care NP Vicky McLawhorn.
Abiding by Pete’s directives he will be cremated with no Visitation or Memorial Service planned.
11th Commandment given by Jesus- John 12:34 A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another: as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
