Robert "Bob" Christopher Davis

Robert (Bob) Christopher Davis, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Steve Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.

Bob was born in New Hanover County on August 24, 1958 to the late John B. Davis and Marie Mobley Davis, (both deceased). He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Melody Phelps Davis, brothers John, (Janet), Tony, (Sue), Charles, (Cheryl), Randy, (Christina), nephews Stephen, Will, Robert, Alex, Christopher, and James, and nieces Brooke and Elizabeth.

Bob worked with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Department for a brief period before deciding to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at East Carolina University. He worked nights with the ECU campus police and attended day classes at ECU until completion of his degree. He returned to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Department and was soon awarded a position as a detective and specialized in investigations of child abuse and child neglect. After several years with the Sheriff’s Department Bob began a new career as a Criminal Justice Instructor at Edgecombe Community College and earned his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration. After retirement from Edgecombe Community College, Bob was recruited by Wesleyan College as an advisor for their Adult Education Program and worked there until his second retirement.

Bob’s hobby was collecting and displaying replica military firearms and other military equipment, particularly items and information from World War II. His passions included spending time with his family, watching ECU and Carolina Panthers football, going on patrol, (short trip travelling), with his wife, and sampling local cuisine. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-800 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
