Susan Moore Obituary

Susan Williams Moore of Rocky Mount and Washington, NC died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 10.

Born January 13, 1969, in Tarboro, she was the daughter of Judith Thompson and Frederick Alton Williams Junior.

Susan was a 1987 graduate of Tarboro High School and received her Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in 1991 from Meredith College. She furthered her education at East Carolina University with a Master of Business Administration in 1993 and a Masters of Industrial Organizational Psychology in 2012.

Susan was always vibrant, happy, and selfless. She never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in the well-being of others.

Her husband and children were the loves of her life. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and true friend. A person of great energy and enthusiasm, she was involved in many civic and charitable activities. Susan was known for her fundraising prowess, never shy to ask for help for the causes she held dear to her heart. Those would include the Calvary Episcopal Church preschool, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Hill Learning Center. Susan served several terms on the board of directors at Hill, a Durham based school specializing in educating children with learning differences. Her passion was to expand the Hill learning methodology across the state in areas that do not have adequate resources for these children.

“Susan could make it happen.”

Susan is survived by her parents Judith Thompson and Frederick Alton Williams Junior, her husband of 28 years, Thomas Jordan Moore II and sons, Thomas Jordan Moore III and Nathaniel Chase Williams Moore, as well as her brother Frederick Alton Williams III.

A service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Tarboro. Due to construction in the sanctuary this will be held in All Saints Chapel. As the chapel has very limited seating, friends and family are asked to join in the celebration of Susan’s life Tuesday, August, 16, 2022 from 4:30-6:30 at their home in Rocky Mount, NC.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions, in memory of Susan may be made to the Hill Learning Center or UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
