Teresa Dawn Strickland

October 20, 1982- March 13, 2021

Teresa Dawn Strickland, 38, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm, Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro with Pastor Billy Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, a wonderful caring and compassionate nurse who will be dearly missed.

Teresa loved her job at Nash UNC Health Care Hospital where she worked as a charge nurse in the Emergency Department. She was far happier taking care of her patients than herself.

Born on October 20, 1982 to Pamela West Anderson and Dennis Anderson, After Pamela’s death when Teresa was five weeks old, she was adopted by Avery and Georgia West Strickland.

Teresa was preceded in death by her mother Pamela West Anderson, father Dennis Anderson and fiancé Eddie Pilgreen.

Survivors include husband Jimmy Mizelle, son Mason Pilgreen, parents Avery and Georgia West Strickland, father-in-law Shane Jones, mother-in-law Wanda Jones, brothers Mike Anderson and Avery Strickland, Jr., sisters Crystal W. McIver (Patrick) and Lisa K. Winstead (Thad), nieces Kayla Lewis, Alli Braxton and Taylor Winstead, nephews Caleb Braxton and JT Winstead and her beloved Bella.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and other times at the home of Avery and Georgia Strickland, 7185 Bitterroot Road, Rocky Mount, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made in memory of Teresa Strickland to Nash UNC Health Care Foundation Emergency Department, C/O Kathleen Fleming, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C. 27804.
