Mr. Thomas James "T.J" .Evelyn , age 71 of Wilson passed at his residence surrounded by his family on February 18, 2021.

Thomas James Evelyn (TJ), of Wilson NC totally devoted husband to wife Ella Heath Evelyn married August 1st, 1987. TJ is survived by his wife Ella of the home, as well as their fur baby Abby Doodle. One son Thomas James Evelyn Jr. of Asheville NC and Daughter Bridget Janelle Evelyn Gilbert and husband John Gilbert of Snellville, GA. , two grandchildren Mason and Madelyn Gilbert. Sister Darlene Torbert of Atlantic Beach, Juanita Griffin of West End, NC and (Tim) Timothy Evelyn of Wilson, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Member of Second Baptist Church, Fayetteville NC since birth.TJ, was in the 52nd Class of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, retiring in 1990, Joined Cumberland County Sheriff Department retired in 2001 as Sgt. of Detective Division, Field Representative for Woodmen of the World from 2005 to 2010, and recently working with Footprint Retail Services.After retirement he played Golf five years every day at Wilson Country Club, until he caught the fishing bug. He loved to Bass fish at the river, ride his Harley and help anyone who would talk or enjoy his company while working. He was full of life and a very special character.

Due to COVID-19 and restrictions the family will be having a private service but requests you share your fondest memories on this website and view the Tribute to “TJ”. Please keep our family and friends in your prayers.
