Walter Frank Wagner, 86, of Tarboro passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 with family by his side.
A graveside service in remembrance of Walter’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Edgecombe Memorial Park with the Reverend James Smith officiating.
Walter was born in Tarboro on December 27, 1934 to the late Louis Alton and Bessie Lee Wagner. He loved and lived in Tarboro his whole life except the two years he was in Germany serving his country in the U.S. Army. Walter loved his family; they were his life, everything else came second in importance to him. He loved his family and friends deeply; they were the center of his life. He will be greatly missed, and we will always be trying to fill the emptiness and void of losing him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the ER staff of Vidant Edgecombe and to the Palliative Care Team at Vidant Medical Center for their compassionate care to our father and family.
Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Wagner; sister Dorothy Dawson (Sweetie); brothers Bill Wagner and William Wagner.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his daughter, Melissa Smith (James); son, Chris Wagner (Jennifer); grandchildren, Amanda Shields (Matt), Victoria Deckard (Zack), Cameron Wagner and Averi Wagner; great-grandchildren, Sloane Shields and Waylon Deckard; and his sister, Lena Doughtie (Harry). He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Billy Weaver (Sue); sister-in-law, Margaret Pope (Bobby) and a host of special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Carlisle Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM.
